Election Day Meditation

Plugged In

It was a beautiful weekend. I mean, just perfect. Saturday was 70 and sunny, today was about 80 and sunny. Not a cloud in the sky either day.

Days like these make me forget about my phone. Well, not entirely, but I find myself leaving it lay around a lot, not even thinking about missing a text or checking Twitter. I was also outside nearly all day both days, and for me, being in nature is like mainlining Prozac.

Instead of feeling anxious and out of the loop, I felt grounded, secure, and completely plugged in. I feel connected to my community and the bigger picture.

I believe spiritual connectedness is extremely important for contentment and deep happiness. That sense of being plugged in/connected/part of a community is personal and comes in many forms, all with the same result. When you access your source of connection, you are fed the energy of other people tapping in and uploading the same good stuff you are downloading. Then, once you’re fueled up, instead of depleting the source of goodness, you upload more good stuff. Pretty much the most awesome vicious cycle ever.

So what’s your source? What do you plug into for good vibes: church, surfing, baking, listening to music, hiking, creating art? I’d love to hear!

By the way, there were a few negatives this weekend, sunburn and sore muscles, #worthit.
