Happy Valentine’s Day!
Today’s post is about an act of kindness years in the making. Hayden Godfrey, 17, has raised the bar seriously high. This guy bought every girl in his high school a carnation during the traditional Valentine’s Day carnation fund raiser. Every girl. In the ENTIRE high school.
For years Hayden felt bad watching girls feel left out and disappointed when they didn’t receive a carnation on Valentine’s Day. He didn’t like it, and decided to do something about it.
His revelation, that no one deserves to feel sad, lonely, or depressed because they didn’t get a flower, spurred 18 months of working and saving to ensure every girl in his high school felt special on this holiday.
At the very least, this kind of story makes readers smile and think warm thoughts for a few moments. Maybe it gives you a little more hope for humanity. At best, it inspires acts of kindness large and small. A 17-year old not only made nearly 900 girls feel loved, his actions have rippled from his small town to spark good vibes, compassion, and loving acts far beyond the borders of Smithfield, Utah.
Thank you Hayden for showing the world that kindness still exists—in high school no less!
What you think of Hayden? Did he inspire you to act lovingly toward someone today?
